Welcome to 2020! Hoping you all had a lovely break to reconnect and rejuvenate. Remember this year, if the door doesn’t open ... it’s not your door. This isn’t a reflection on how hard you’ve worked for something or how deserving of it you may be, but sometimes we must simply surrender, loosen our grip, and trust that OUR door is somewhere waiting for us.

I have been working with and learning about the Enneagram for eighteen years. During our recent Enneagram learning retreat in Kerala, India with our Enneagram teacher trainees it was humbling to again be reminded that we can learn so much from others.

I am so grateful to Anne, Melinda and Martin for the powerful insights and shared learning during our journey.

My insight: Be open to learn something new every day.

Said farewell to our friends and our Nagath family in Kerala, India on Sunday evening. What a wonderful shared experience and great insights our Noble Works team have had over the past 2 weeks at our Enneagram Facilitators Intensive Learning Program at this amazing retreat. Great food, Ayurvedic massages, yoga, meditation and most of all great company. Who could have imagined that learning could be such fun. Thank you to our hosts Dr Rajesh and Dr Anitha and their fabulous team for all of their care, nurture and support. Well done.

We are currently running a 2 week Enneagram retreat in Kerala, India as part of the Noble Works advanced training program for Enneagram facilitators. This intensive program runs over an 18 month period and results in an accreditation as a Noble Works Enneagram Facilitator.

Entry into the program requires sound foundational knowledge of the Enneagram and evidence of prior formal learning in Enneagram studies.

Participation is by invitation and current participants are Anne Schmarr, Melinda Smith and Martin Coates.

How wonderful it was to learn together in such a beautiful and peaceful environment at Nagath.

Wow! What a way to celebrate the achievements of the Gympie Regional Council's Corporate and Community Services directorate's year!

Just finished an Enneagram and team building workshop for the management team at Director Pauline Gordon's home, with a brilliant early Christmas party.

The team had a wonderful day learning about themselves, each other and their families, sharing insights and stories.

They topped the day off with a fabulous Christmas luncheon prepared by their boss, Pauline. Thanks to Pauline's Executive Assistant, Tracy Byrne, for her help with logistics and much more.

We have the opportunity to work in some pretty amazing venues as we move around the country. Today I presented a session on Leadership and facilitated a Q & A with the Executive Team for the Gympie Regional Council. This was held at Honeybee Gardens at Kandanga, Mary Valley Queensland, which is a wonderful venue, with great food and service. We were certainly very well looked after.

It was also a great opportunity for the Senior Leadership Team to get together to discuss current state, build even better relationships, work out priorities, to stimulate ideas and create plans to help make the community be the best it can be.

Janelle Parker, Event Manager, Honeybee Gardens. Janelle and her team were fabulous hosts and the catering was delicious!

There is an excellent event catering area and the property also has terrific farm stay facilities.

Last week we had the privilege of working with Matt Hyde and his team at the Snowy Valleys Council in Tumut NSW. We were surprised by the natural beauty of this area. It was the first sight of green lush valleys that we had seen on our road trip from Sydney. Definitely a great region to visit with so much to offer.

We talk a lot in our workshops about the importance of self-awareness and conscious management of self as key pillars of leadership. Matt is a great example of a highly self-aware Enneagram type 1 who brings the great gifts of the type to his role as Chief Executive Officer of the Council. Self-aware leaders do change their world.

Worked with a wonderful group at Canada Bay Council in Sydney yesterday. I have been coaching these people for a few months and it was great to finally meet them all. Some profound insights for many during the day, and most importantly, there was lots of laughter. I feel privileged to do what I do.

Mahatma Gandhi, known in India as "the father of the nation," was born 150 years ago yesterday, on October 2, 1869. In India his birthday is a major national holiday called Gandhi Jayanti, and it is marked with a prayer for peace, ceremonies and events throughout the country. The United Nations has also declared October 2 as the International Day of Nonviolence to honour Gandhi's message.

Gandhi is revered the world over as one of history’s most transformative and inspirational figures. Throughout his life in South Africa and India, Gandhi was a fearless campaigner for the rights and dignity of all people, whose constant and unwavering promotion of non-violence as a tool to win over hearts and minds has forever left its mark on the world.
